A little about me

Namaste…

Welcome, my name is Louise and I am a yoga teacher living in the very beautiful mountains of Monchique, Portugal. My aim is to teach yoga to everyone of all fitness levels in a space that is welcoming and friendly, where my students feel safe and supported.

From an early age I loved to be outdoors and active – climbing trees, building camps, running cross country and I really enjoyed athletics. In the early 90’s I stumbled upon my first yoga class and over the following years my devotion to yoga grew stronger and stronger. In 2020 I was in a position to have the space in my life to take my 300RYT yoga teacher training. Following this incredible year of learning, I continue to acquire knowledge and research pretty much every day. I was a member of the Asana Acadamy with Mark Stephens, I have taken numerous workshops with inspiring teachers such as Doug Keller, Stewart Gilchrist, and most recently I am learning Activated Asana from Denise Rouleau and Mastering Simplicity with Donna Farhi.

My teaching approach is rooted in the ancient traditions of Hatha yoga, blending classical teachings with modern techniques, to create a holistic practice that nourishes and strengthens mind, body, and soul. Classes include asana, movement, meditation and pranayama and I also often include work with bands, blocks and straps to help challenge the body to build strength and encourage safe alignment.

In our classes we focus on activating our bodies while moving in alignment to our breath, flowing through invigorating vinyasa, or moving slower to gently cultivate inner balance and harmony.

More recently, I have trained in Ayurvedic Massage Therapy and I am now certified in this fascinating form of massage and pranic healing.

“Through my own experience, I know that consistent yoga practice can transform our lives, inviting contentment and wellness. Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced yogi, we will move at your pace with the goal of empowering you to explore movement and breath, encouraging you to also dedicate time to your own practice at home.”

Retreats

In addition to regular classes, I also plan and host group yoga retreats and individual wellness experiences. We offer immersive experiences where participants can deepen their practice, find inner balance and connect with nature.

I truly believe that each person’s time on the yoga mat is an opportunity for self-discovery and I hope to inspire others to embrace self-kindness and to heal themselves through movement. Together, let’s explore the profound wisdom of yoga and remind ourselves of the boundless potential within us as we follow a path of growth, healing and well-being.
